You never wanted him to leave, you believed in love and peace and that fighting was wrong yet your beloved was off to do just that. You were heavily pregnant and in no state to say good bye to the love of your life and you baby's father for possibly forever. James tried to calm you by saying "this isn't the end, you got to trust me, I won't ever leave you and the beautiful baby you are so gracefully carrying inside you." He gently kisses your bump before standing up straight and gazing into your teary eyes, you stand on your tip toes as he lightly tilts your chin up so your lips are nearly touching before you respond and there you are, at the front door of your house everyone else is leaving for war as you two stand there kissing like the childhood sweethearts that you are.

Fracture

"Lex, I want to leave. I need to stop my father, find James. I can't abandon him because of fear. I can't do that." My eyes glared into him, burrowing my false confidence deep into his soul. Stay strong, Sarah. My heart thundered in my chest, praying he would believe the lie. I didn't want to leave, but I needed to. I couldn't let my emotions cloud my judgment, now. I'm so close to the truth- so close I can feel my veins thrumming. The real fear wasn't in leaving him, no, it was in him holding me from the truth, protecting me like he has all along. "I'm not your enemy, Sarah, I never was. If you want to leave, go, but believe what I tell you next." He took a step closer, closing the gap between his lips and mine, pressing with a sense of reckless abandon. His hand danced down my spine, tracing my skin like a canvas, pulling me closer. The other cupped my cheek tightly, holding my face to his. His voice dropped to a sultry whisper. "If you walk out of that door, it will ruin me, what little faith I have left will be gone. You, Sarah Nicola Kristoph, have utterly destroyed me." I closed my lips onto his once more, pulling him closer to me as my hands clutched his worn t-shirt. Fisting handfuls of hair, our heartbeats collided as they thundered in our chests, matching the symphony of a thunderstorm outside. "Forgive me."
