Hello dear reader,
If you read my writing, you may be aware that I write fiction.
However, this book (though I never intended to write it) is going to be quite different.
As a brief backstory, my school has its own newspaper, for which I write articles on politics, satire and in-school issues. My latest article covered the issues of hierarchies in a school setting and satirically displayed communism as the solution to this. I was very careful to be respectful while writing, and even had it checked by my parents and the paper's editor (a fellow student), who all saw no issue, though the editor wasn't sure what the Senior Leadership Team (a group of teachers) would say to it.
Unfortunately, her fears were founded: today, the paper was published, with my article omitted without my knowledge. I suspect that this may be down to the criticism of the school or because of the satirical use of communism. I find it rather disrespectful that I was not approached about this and this leads me to believe that this could be an act of censorship.
Within this book, you will find the article in question (minus any personal details about myself or the school) and an in-depth collection of the arguments that exist alongside it.
Even if those I wrote this for will never see this, I still believe that these words deserve to be heard.
Welcome to A Schoolgirl's Manifesto.

ආදරේ වැඩියෙන්ම දැනුනේ මගහැරුණු හිත්වලට....ආදරේ වැඩියෙන්ම කරෙත් ඒ මගහැරුණු හිත්මයි.
