Imagine a Hallmark movie with teenagers (because everyone needs that right now). This will be a short ten-ish chapter book. Two people meet in a math class on their first day of middle school. They become close, but immediately grew apart after they changed seats during the second semester. But that was years ago: they are seniors now. Throughout high school, Samantha has run into many situations where she felt connected to Oliver--ending up with the same locker his sister had, walking past each other everyday in the same spot, having many of the same friends, etc. But Sam had her heart broken one day in sixth grade when she finally realized her feelings for him on the same day that he asked another girl out.
