Five Hargreeves has always distrusted Number Eight. From the moment they met, they hated each other-competing at every turn. But when Eight is injured on a mission and disappears after a heated argument with Five, everyone believes she's dead-except Five. Two weeks later, Five storms out of the Academy, only to be trapped in the apocalypse, leaving a hole in the family.

In 2019, the family reunites for Sir Reginald Hargreeves' funeral. But it's not just a funeral-it's a reunion. Both Five and Eight return, but something is off about them both. Eight claims she spent the years in a coma, but Five isn't convinced. As he works to stop the impending apocalypse, his suspicions grow.
