Learning to trust is a lesson in vulnerability. You bare yourself, knowing full well the risks. Betrayal, disappointment, heartbreak. As humans we experience this painful lesson more than once. Each time, opening ourselves up less and less, anticipating people to eventually falter. For Lorelei, she was trying to heal from her first lesson. She shut people out, fell into her own little world, and wanted nothing to do with friends, or even her own family. Fresh scenery for the summer at her grandmothers house was what her mother hoped would help nudge things along, but not if Lorelei had any say.

Still, she slowly began to find herself, much to her surprise. She flourished, doing things she hadn't done in months, one of them being just smiling again. Some of it had to do with a boy. A boy who was frustratingly, annoyingly always around. Sure, he had a nice smile but one can't fall too deeply for that. Opening up again would take some patience on his end.

Sadly, humans are peculiar things and that pesky thing called trust might just get pulled and bent until it snaps, yet again. She leaves that summer with a new resolve. Even if some of her is left behind, in the hands of the boy who broke her to pieces. Her heart and her ability to open up never to be the same again.

Years later, what kind of person does Lorelei become? Can she ever forget the boy she spent the summer with who broke her? When she finds herself face to face with an older version of him staring back at her, she will have to find out which way this third lesson in trust will go.
