Ariel plays the saxophone. That's what she says when someone asks what she likes to do, or when those stupid class games at the start of the year want you to say something "interesting". But Ariel doesn't play it well. At least, she's enrolled in the music program at an art school, and considered one of the best. But out there? In the real world, dozens of artists are in line, each one better and better than Ariel dreams she could ever be.
What does it mean to be good at something? Ariel can write stories, and memorize poetry, and read more books than anyone else. Ariel used to be able to run faster than all the girls she knew. Ariel can sing... Okay, maybe not. But she doesn't want to sing, or run, or only memorize poetry.
She wants to perform. And she wants to be good at it.

In a quirky, honest world, Ariel Singh faces the twists and turns of an average teenager in the wake of prodigies. Torn between the pull of romance, academics, friendships and talent, Ariel never knows what she'll do, or how she'll do it.
