Romance
In a world where duty and loyalty are paramount, Elite Force specialist assistant commander Amara has always put her mission first. As the leader of a top-tier special operations unit, she's faced countless dangers and impossible odds. But nothing could prepare her for the most perilous challenge yet: falling in love with the one person she shouldn't-her personal command guard, Lieutenant Nikolai Volkov. Nikolai has sworn to protect Amara with his life, never expecting his heart to be on the line. As they navigate treacherous assignments and shadowy enemies, their bond deepens, creating a tension neither can ignore. With every secret mission and whispered confession, the stakes grow higher. Their clandestine relationship risks not only their careers but also the lives of those they are sworn to protect. Amara laughed, a sound that was both genuine and infectious. "Come on, Nikolai, life's too short to be all doom and gloom. Loosen up a bit. It's not like the world will end if you crack a joke once in a while." Nikolai's eyes softened ever so slightly, though his posture remained formal. "I'll consider it, if you promise to stop referring to our covert operations as 'adventures.'" "Deal!" Amara extended her hand, a teasing grin on her face. "But only if you agree to stop calling me 'Commander' when we're off duty. It's Amara, remember?" Nikolai hesitated for a moment before shaking her hand. "Fine, Amara. But only because you outrank me and I don't want to end up on latrine duty." Amara chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Oh, I wouldn't do that to you. I need you sharp and ready, after all. Can't have my favorite guard distracted by menial tasks." "Favorite guard, huh?" Nikolai's voice took on a playful edge. "I'll try not to let it go to my head." Amara winked. "Good. Now, let's get this 'mission' done so we can get back to our 'adventure.'" The corner of his lips upturned as he said "Lead the way, Amara."

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258!
