Alyson Walker has been bullied throughout most of high school. She has no friends, her family doesn't speak to her and she feels alone and depressed. She also deals with social anxiety and has claustrophobia, which makes her an even easier target. This year, it was her senior year. This year was going to be different.

Connor Matthews was the average poor kid. He and his family didn't have much, and he knew to not take things for granted. When Connor and his sister get a scholarship to a fancy preparatory school, they jump at the chance. He moves to Raleigh, North Carolina with his sister and single mother. Things have finally began to look up for Connor's future.

This book is about Aly and Connor as their lives start to change and they grasp for the one thing that will comfort them.
