In the heart of the 18th century, during the Carnival, Venice shines in a noise of colors, sounds and disguises. Masked faces lost in the crowd, mysterious laughter passing through the streets, and the sparkling lights reflected in the waters of the canals make the city a true maze of mysteries and possibilities. But this year, the festive glory is overshadowed by a series of cruel murders that plunge the city into a spiral of fear and confusion.

Will her new family let her go that easily so that she may pursue the whirlwind romance she longs for? And is a life of lavishness worth the terror that ensues? For nothing is really as it seems in the upper echelons of society, and no one can really be trusted...
