Lan Zhan has always found it difficult to express his feelings. If it weren't for his uncle Lan Qiren and his elder brother Lan Xichen, he would perhaps be derided as a retard. However Lan Zhan is gifted, a superb cultivator excelling in swordsmanship and musical cultivation. His autism has helped him stay focussed on things he can use to express himself in place of words. He has never been close to anyone outside his family and his clan, The Gusu sect of Jiangnan, never been in love and has always strived to be perfect. Rules, law, justice and etiquette meant the world to him. Everything gets thrown away when he meets a fellow cultuvator from Yunmeg. 

Wei Ying wasn't supposed to come to come to Gusu. He was not affiliated to any of the prominent families. His father was a servant of the Jiang clan. His mother was a rogue cultivator. The Jiang Clan Sect leader had taken him in when he was barely nine years old, both his parents dead. Since then he had shown an exceptional aptitude for cultivation becoming the head disciple of the Jiang clan, exceeding the heir Jiang Cheng and causing Madam Yu, Sect Leader Jiang's wife extreme displeasure. 

Wei Yang's temperament was the opposite of Lan Zhan. He made friends easily and took Madam Yu's abuse as well as Juang Cheng's jealousy in his stride. He was indebted to them for his upbringing and gave way to their unreasonable response to his excellence. What happens when Wei Ying's easy acceptance meets Lan Zhan's unwavering discipline? He just want to know whether his A-yang and A-zhan is doing well. One day wangji got a dragon fly message like the butterfly message but in this the voice can be heard. He started talking with the messenger Xian and xian helped him out of his trauma. Wangji felt a deep connection with xian. Who is this xian and why is he not reveling his whereabouts.?

This work is inspired by request from Olivia Hawkins: "A time travel fic after Guanyin Temple where WWX uses MXY's golden core to travel all the way back before he went to the Cloud Recesses and he takes this pill that prevents him from falling in love. Every time LWJ is near WWX, he has visions of the events that occurred later in the novel such as the Cloud Recesses burning, WWX giving his golden core to JC, WWX being thrown into burial mounds and WWX becoming the YP. He approaches WWX this time and hopes that he can protect him but is rejected constantly. So he summons most of the cultivation world to tell them about the visions he had seen." Upon going into the Coud Recesses to attend the 3 month lecture, this was something Lan Zhan had learned well, especially since he himself was often the target. Still, Wei Wuxian was definitely talented, if a bit unorthodox. So, when Wei WuXian returns after ab absence of about a month, returning just in time to aid in the wipeout of the Wen Clan using some odd form of cultivation, Lan Zhan realizes something is wrong. The previously outgoing boy has turned inwards on himself. He no longer makes jokes, he smiles when anyone is looking, but the smile drops when nobody is paying attention. He laughs, but Lan Zhan knows they are faked. He flinches away from anyone, and Lan Zhan is sure that he could hear screaming at some point during the night. He is no longer creating mischief and breaking rules, and was often found alone, staring blankly into the distance. The only people who could touch him without him backing away was Wen Ning...and him. Lan Zhan realized this when he had grabbed Wei Wuxian to keep him from storming out of a room, and instead of fighting him off as he did with everyone else, he calmed. Unnerved by the drastic change in personality, and, though unwilling to admit it, worried for the slightly younger boy, Lan Zhan gets his father and brother to convince the Jiang clan to let them take Wei Wuxian back to the Cloud Recesses, under the pretence of having him attend more training, as an official Disciple in a few more months. Wei Ying grew inseparable from Lan Zhan and always got tense when he was alone, he only felt safe around Lan Zhan, and it confused him because he had two amazing siblings and Lan Xichen was also extremely kind and on some level he did also feel safe with them but he never felt fully safe until he was with Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan on the other hand always tried his best to make Wei Ying feel safe and talk to him about how he was feeling, which always seemed to help the younger. The two had gotten to a point where they would spend every day and night together, becoming inseparable from each other, and that's when they both realized that they had feelings for each other.
