This complex acts as a support system made up of ligaments, tendons, and cartilage. You might tear your TFCC if you fall, twist, or break your wrist. Additionally, aging can wear down this tissue, leading to tears.

What is the TFCC?
The TFCC (Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex) is composed of several parts:

The triangular fibrocartilage disc
Meniscus homologue
Dorsal and volar radioulnar ligaments
Ulnar collateral ligament
Ulnocarpal ligaments
These components work together to stabilize the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) and the ulnar side of the wrist.

What is a TFCC Tear?
The TFCC is located between the two main bones in your forearm, the radius and ulna. A TFCC tear occurs when this complex support system in your wrist is injured.
