For example, their biggest enemy, La Famille, or the French Mafia was trying to get a hold of their operation. Just as he was getting ready to become capo dei capi, his parents gave him an ultimatum to secure that The Sicilian Mafia will always be on top.
To make sure that happens, Jackson has to get important intel on La Famille, which just so happens to be Della's step Father's mafia. The only way he can get close to Ron is to go through his new family. Jackson developed a deep resentment for Delilah over the years and had to put up a façade of being friends with Brooks. He was taught to think of Della as collateral damage, but when he gets closer to the broken and battered girl, the mafia prince won't let anyone lay their hands on her.
