Gwen Millie;'s last week on Earth was always supposed to go one way: Monday - Bullied from school, Tuesday - she almost dies, Wednesday - She Almost Dies Again, Thursday- Her best friend almost dies. Friday - She gets expelled from school, she gets bullied again, she sneaks into the school, she confesses her love, she gets rejected, her friends hate her, she gets publicly humiliated in front of the whole school, she runs out in anger *such a cliche*, and she finally dies, with her and the audience never knowing who killed her. Gwen's been in this Myriad for years, well that is until she was once saved by a mysterious figure on Christmas Eve, saying she's lived so many lives before. With this encouragement, she starts a detective club to find clues around the school and her town to stop who's trying to kill her, while realizing that not only is her world was not as real as everyone else claims it to be, but she's not the only one who thinks that way.

Hope Flynn used to love water. She never realized the power of water, or the strength of it until the accident. Now Hope knows just how dangerous water can be. Water is the reason her sister is dead, and the reason she almost died. Hope can't remember what happened the night of the tragedy, but everyone assures her she couldn't have done anything to save her sister. Juliet Price has attended Redwood High since the beginning of sophomore year, but she's never spoken to Hope, Juliet doesn't fit in with her classmates as she wasn't born rich and she didn't grow up getting everything she wanted. The only reason Juliet is at the exclusive private school is because she's living with her wealthy aunt and uncle. Juliet knows what happened to Eleanor Flynn, most of the world does. The Flynn family are very wealthy and very famous. Even though Juliet and Hope have never spoken, Juliet can tell that Hope is acting weird and she doesn't think it's entirely because Eleanor is dead. When Juliet and Hope are brought together through a class project, Juliet starts to realize that Hope won't be able to start moving on unless she finds out what happened the night her sister died, and why she can't remember it. When the two start investigating, they realize that the truth is pointing to something dark. Almost everyone attending Redwood has secrets, and they'll do what it takes to keep them private. When the truth starts to come out, Hope is left to wonder if she remembers the dreadful night and finds out she had something to do with it, will she ever forgive herself?
