After 18 year old Emerald's father is sent to prison, she and her three younger siblings move from their small hometown in Georgia to the beautiful "Big Sky" Montana. There Emerald goes to college, has three jobs, and spends every free moment she can with her sisters and brother. After the hard life Emerald has had, she shuts everyone out. She pretends that everything is okay and that she is happy, while in fact she is dying inside. But will that all change when a group of friend from her college reach out to her? Will she be able to let this group of friends into her life, or will she continue to shut them out? And most of all will she ever be able to forgive the people who let her down in the first place?
