Zira is a young woman who lives with her father, Sargent Shadwell, and her mother, Madame Tracy. She is now officially old enough to find herself a match to make her family proud and bring them honor. Everything goes haywire when her father gets called off to war and she attempts to prevent him from leaving. So she grabs her father's armor and takes his horse, Lesley, off to the army to fight in the war instead of her father. But women aren't allowed in the war, so she has to put on a disguise. Zira, now officially known as Aziraphale, has to learn to be a man and hide under the cold gaze of her leader, Crowley. She makes friends along the way but will she lose everything she gains after saving her loved ones?
