Ever since an adolescent, Joyce Flores has breathed, ate and slept football. Her spirit became pitch perfect on the field, where tones that other people felt dissonant were transformed into a banging beat. As a child of a Flores it was embedded into her blood. Though as puberty kicked in, setting her apart from her four brothers, Joyce's dreams altered. She revelled in the pure escapism of cinema, engrossed in other worlds where anything is possible. Yet, at home, she still lived in the vain shadows of her siblings.

So she escapes it all, starts over, abroad. London's beloved books a year long ticket to Los Angeles, California to chase her dreams at USC. Little did she know, football was the Jerry to her Tom. So, she gives in, to pass time of course, and joins the passionate team of women soccer players─totally not expecting to see Korbin Collier of all people in the stands.

The upcoming soccer prodigy admired all there was to football. He didn't care if it was women's or men, watching and feeling the control of the ball unite with his feet in a synchronised dance brought him an unmatched joy. So, when he notices jersey #9 no longer attached to a blonde, pale woman and instead to the bronzy, tanned skin of a smiley brunette, well, he's intrigued. Not so much to where he goes out of his way to converse with her─but enough that his attentive nature notices her around.

What he didn't expect to come out of the year was a brewing game between the girls and the boys. But when his sexist teammate resonates his unwanted opinion, Joyce and Cindy challenge the captain to a "friendly" match, and who is Korbin to turn down a challenge.

Book #4 in the "Bloodlines & Ashes" series (Can be read as a standalone) I had a plan: Go to college, have lots of sex, and eventually become a doctor. Simple, right? Yeah, well, that was the idea until a family secret came out and flipped my whole world upside down. Fast forward to an accident and a kidney transplant later; I'm left wondering who the hell I even am anymore. That's when she came tumbling into my life. A red-haired stranger on the hospital rooftop, barging into my existential crisis, dragging me-literally-away from the edge. (For the record, I wasn't going to jump. Probably.) She's beautiful, fiery, and...insanely frustrating. She refused to tell me her name, declared my parents must be gay, and walked away like she didn't just turn my entire world upside down. Sounds like the start of a great love story, doesn't it? Here's the problem: she doesn't think so. She's immune to my charm, dismisses me as some campus jock, and seems entirely uninterested in giving me the time of day. Naturally, her rejection only makes me more determined to prove her wrong. Enter the deal: tutoring sessions, gingerbread lattes, and endless chances to show her that I'm more than just a guy with good hair and charm. Her story? I need to know it.
Her trust? I'll earn it. But the closer I get, the more I realize I'm in way over my head. Because, like they say, too much ginger can give you heartburn-and my heart? It's already hanging by a thread.

I chuckled slightly and shook my head. "Does that usually work for you? The cute little remarks and that nice smile." I teased. He gave me a sheepish look of surprise. "Most girls would be flattered at my attempt to flirt with them." I scoffed and shook my head. "Well, as a member of the "most girls" community, I can say that I am not." "Wow. That's a bit harsh." He gave me a smug look and crossed his arms. "Sorry," I shrugged. "I'm immune to boy charms. In fact, I think I'm allergic." "Well, don't think so highly of yourself. Just because you have cute dimples and a pretty face, doesn't mean I find you attractive." ------------------------------ Maya Cameron is a senior at Ohio State University and this is the year where you need to get your life together before you get pushed out into the real world. Writing is the only thing that keeps her sane after all of the trauma she's been though. With her mom and dad's unfortunate death, she's been left under the care of her evil step-aunt and forced to stay with her annoying step-cousin. As if college isn't stressful enough. And then there's this other guy in her life. They met online by accident and have been talking for months but she's not brave enough to make it something real. Will Ashby is the all-around superstar on campus. He's practically royalty because he's the running back on the Ohio State Football team: one of the best college football teams in America. Will is the person guys want to be and guy girls want to be with. But in actuality, he'd rather blend in with the background noise. His only focus has been football and finishing his degree. That was until he met this girl. He doesn't even know her name or what she looks like, but she's the girl he'd want to be real with. Because of circumstances, Will needs an English tutor or he won't be able to play. And much to her dismay, Maya is the perfect person for the job. Started: January 2021 Completed: October 2021

We're so close that I'm sure I'm inhaling his exhale and vice versa, with none of us giving a fuck about it. "Can't wait." He breathes out, slipping his index finger too, stroking faster and deeper and I grip the bedsheets tighter, waves of pleasure taking control as I groan with eyes shut, coming close. "Be mine?" He asks again and I could feel his eyes still trained on me. Unable to speak, I nod. "Words, Olivia. Words." "I- uh, fuck it, yes, I'll be yours," I reply with a hoarse voice, a voice I can't recognize. I let my hands go up to his hair, removing the band that held it together, so it'll fall in soft waves and I can run my hand through it freely. "Then, I think I'm also yours." I closed my eyes tightly until I heard laughing. No, I could feel the laughing. My eyes sprang open to find Miles on top of me. I was laying flat on my back in the dirt with my glove with the ball inside pressed against his chest. Miles was not at all fat, but he was 6'2 compared to my barely 5'3. I could feel his chest rumbling and shaking with laughter as I lay humiliated on the ground. "I didn't know you liked being on the bottom," Miles said loudly. The whole field cracked up with that. I struggled under him and shoved him off of me. All of the guys were howling with laughter as I got up and swiped all the dirt off me. "Pervert," I muttered, before tossing the ball out of my glove to hit him in the thigh. I stalked across the field without another word. The whole team was in hysterics as I shoved all my things in my bag and practically ran off to get away. ... The captain of our soccer team, Xavi Parker, a beautiful, young, athletic boy. The college girls were obsessed over him and his boys. The boys were jealous of him and his position and his golden reputation, but not everyone was impressed by the soccer players. He's handsome, cocky and hot, and he knows it. Xavi Parker is aware, but why would a guy like Xavi Parker fall in love with a girl like me? The moment he told me, my life turned upside down. This boy knew he could get anything, anyone, but he fell for a girl like me. He cared about me in a way I couldn't imagine, a way I never experienced before, a feeling I couldn't accommodate. "Why do you care, Xavi?" He looks up and meets my eyes, not looking away. Xavi told me nothing, but the truth, that was one of the reasons I cared about him. I cared about him in a way I never cared. He does care about me, but can't place this feeling. I wasn't special and I understood it loud and clear. Girls like me aren't used to feelings like this, they aren't used to the feeling of love. It scares me, how long before someone takes this away? How long can he handle me and my dramatic past? He takes a deep breath, and he smiles, "How can I not care about someone like you. You're my sun and darkness, you're my heroin. You're it, Lun."
