Auto Racing is one of the top ten biggest sports in America. The racing season lasts for ten months from February to November. Among many great racers, two were raised in the same county. Two of the best drivers today, Andrew Flynn and Ricky Novane, were raised in Sullivan County, Tennessee.
Most of my life was spent watching car races and sitting in the crowds. Betting on the races is just as serious as betting on horse races. I have seen people get slapped, punched, kicked, and knocked out during races because of their bets. The rivalry between the racers is just as serious.
How far will someone go to win a race?

~ I put my foot down and drive to the first corner. The track is always wet at the start of the day as the water truck is able to go out and keep it that way, but by the end of the day all the water will have been used so it will be bone dry and that's when the real fun begins. I pull the hydro, the chrome shaft that's connected to my rear brakes, to lock the rear wheels so I can initiate a drift. I feather the throttle accordingly as to keep the car sideways and continue onto the next corner... This is it. Nothing else matters. Just me, my car, their car and the sound of tyres tearing rubber against the drying tarmac... ~ ~ "Laurie, you got something..." He trails off as his thumb brushes my lips enough to turn my head towards him. Before I know it, the space between us is closing and my body is frozen.
