Jade is the best fighter in Hallehis, The Realm of Hills and Valleys. Though no one knows, it is her job to protect each ruler as he comes along. It has been her one and only focus for centuries.

She is more than human, she is The Shadow. The being tasked with protecting the royal family of the realm that is her home.

For the past two hundred years, people thought of her as myth, those who didn't saw her as a danger to the safety of the common people.

She had come into being over three millennia ago with the gifts of disguise, speed, strength, enhanced senses, and special unbreakable weapons. Lately she had been using disguise magic more and more.

Occasionally she'd be a lady of another realm, but mostly maid outfits to be able to keep an eye on the king discretely.

Then one night an attack on the king's life provokes her to come out of hiding. The problem is, that after she saves the king, everyone knows where she is, and she is chased away.

Now, to protect the paranoid royal family, she must first get back to them.

"She is the most powerful thing in all of Hallehis, possibly all the world! That kind of... THING cannot be let to roam around freely!" the King roared.

"But all the legends say that-"

"I know what the legends say!" He glared at his son. "Legends often have only a grain of truth. In this case-"

Jade decided it was time to intervene. She broke into his shouted sentence calmly. "-They are suspiciously accurate. I suspect my mother had something to do with that."

What happened next was hilarious.
