Sage Evans is shadowing different nurses at Beacon Hills General as part of her study in becoming an RN. During her shadowing she comes across life changing situations. Watching people die on the table, flat-line in a surgery or learning to put on a cast and set a bone... she thinks she's seen it all.

Until one night a boy stumbles into the ER, grasping at his ribs, knocking over chairs in his advance towards the desk. His eyes are bruised and his nose is gushing. Sage acts immediately, helping him into a room and calling for help. Eventually she ends up shadowing his primary care nurse and she learns more than just his blood type.
