The story is told from the perspective of Angela, a young girl whose family was killed in a vicious raid on their kingdom by vampires 10 years ago. Her parents, the king and queen, hid Angela away before their deaths, making her promise to stay hidden and not reveal her true identity as the heir to the throne.
Angela is now living in a small colony of werewolves, imprisoned in the vampire kingdom. She reflects on the trauma of her past and her fear of claiming the life that should have been hers. Angela struggles with her father's teachings about the vicious nature of werewolves, yet she holds onto hope that they are not as bad as portrayed.
Meanwhile, the vampire prince, who is unaware of Angela's true identity, is determined to see what is happening in the werewolf colonies for himself, despite the negative perceptions of werewolves by others in the kingdom. The chapter ends with the prince about to embark on his mission.
The story sets up a compelling conflict between Angela's hidden past and the realities of her present situation, as well as the potential for the prince's actions to uncover secrets and change the course of events. The stage is set for an intriguing tale of hidden identities, prejudices, and the power of destiny.
