Marcus Riviera isn't happy. Who could be in the strict, unbending world of Elegenian Nobility? Only 19, but forced to marry someone he doesn't love. Dr. Nadeau, the infamous human/elf hybrid longs for her to stay, all she's ever wanted was a family. It's only when The Doctors condition grows more unstable that she's forced to make a decision.

Lio Hawthorne is perfectly happy where he is! If you look past the hangings and public torture. He lives in Lower City Elegenia, the slums. The threat of the noose over his head, he knows it can't last forever. But he can't just leave. He has family, brothers and sisters, and deep debts to the webs of gangs that operate secretly across the whole city. Fear hangs over Elegenia like the fog it's known for, and Lio knows that change is upon the horizon.
