There was no secret the three boys kept for each other so they basically knew everything about each other but finney couldn't bare telling them about his abusive father, he didn't want to break they're hearts. Luckily Finney has a friend named Vance Hopper well.. not really a friend friend he only knows Vance because he's the strongest guy in his school but also he's friends with Bruce Yamada a guy who plays baseball with him so Vance doesn't mess with him much.
