"Ssh. Jason" I heard Bruce say soothingly as I gasped awake. "Jason. You're okay. Jason you're safe" his hand touched my shoulder and I snapped.
I pushed him off harshly and glared at him "no I'm not!! You don't know what it's like inside my head!!" My voice cracked.
Bruce sighed and withdrew his hand, "then tell me Jason. Is it the Joker again?"
HAHAHAHA...
The Jokers laughs echoed in my head and sent shivers up my spine every time I thought about it. But no. This was something that dated back much further. Before I met Bruce... much before.
Before I'd even heard the name Batman...

Being a demigod was hard enough, living in a city with constant crime and the threat of being mugged all the time? I've faced worse, probably. It's not like the bat family seems to be stalking me or that there's another prophecy floating around camp which seems to be making everyone anxious and worried. It started that summer
Jason Todd kills the Joker and goes missing for months, it's up to his brothers to bring him back home. But what triggered his disappearance that summer? // Jason had always kept his distance from his family until Bruce nearly lost his life to the Joker. In an attempt to bring the family closer, Dick plans summer hangouts. Everything goes smoothly until Damian, the kid who always had it out for Jason, has a birthday party. Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Jason Todd have been best friends since they were little kids, before Jason fled to the streets of Gotham. Both raven-haired kids grew up with identical pasts and backgrounds, and both connected with each other because of it. The two honorary siblings quickly became adoptive siblings after Jason fled to the streets after his dad went to jail and mom died, thanks to Sabine Dupain-Cheng adopting him at Marinettes begging and pleading, much to Tom Dupain's anger. Jason had Sabine and Mari's hearts and love for him, and the two had his, but never had Tom's, not that he cared. He hated the man because of the way he treated Mari and Sabine, which was like his bio father did to him, and Tom hated him because he'd lived in the streets and wasn't biologically part of the Dupain-Cheng family, so he got treated the same, but the abuse was 10x as bad. All Jason and Mari cared was that they had each other, and that they would be ok if they had each other by the other's side. But everything changed when Tom had finally had crossed the line, and that was the line that would change the siblings forever. 10 years later, Jason was adopted by billionaire Bruce Wayne aka Batman, has 7 other adoptive siblings, and is Red Hood... whenever he isn't traveling the world, looking for his beloved Pixie Pop. Marinette thinks her older brother is dead, and she lives alone with Tom. Hawkmoth is defeated, and the young Gothamite is broken beyond imagining. Can Jason, and maybe the rest of the Wayne family, bring the light back into her eyes and help her? Or will everything get a whole lot worse for her and Jason? "Hazel." "What?" "My name." I swallowed hesitantly, afraid to shatter the silence between us anymore than I already had, "It's Hazel." The silence of the night made it seem as if someone breathing too loud could make the silence shatter into a million pieces. My voice was no exception, and I was terrified that if I spoke to loud, even one word, the it would shatter, along with everything in the room. The silence seemed to make my voice feel smaller than it was, so when I finally heard his footsteps again, it shocked me to hear how loud and distinctive each one was, as if the silence broke just for him. As if he ruled the silence. It's as if he didn't even view the silence as fragile, but a force that he had to over come.
