Book 2 of Ambitions of a Mountain King In the last book we saw, Lyra and Thorin fall in love and triumph in times of war. Now years later, Lyra and Thorin have navigated the world as parents. Raising not one but two daughters. Sansa, born only months after the battle of five armies, and Freya born a few years later. Until one day, Thorin dies from a sickness that blindsided them all. Lyra falls into a darkness that happens to Elves when they lose their soulmates, while Sansa and Freya pick up the pieces of what is left. Meaning Sansa has to take on the role of Queen, as her mother is unable, while Freya learns the hardships of the dwarven army. A few months after the death of Thorin, Gandalf comes a knocking at their door, with another quest and the hopes that Lyra and her daughters will join him. Knowing that this is what Lyra so desperately needs. To feel useful, to feel again. Read on as Lyra, Sansa, and Freya help Frodo Baggins destroy the One Ring.
