For Idalia, life was always a straight line - a taut string. Notable things that happened in her life were never under her control, like the death of her younger sister. This shakes her foundations and suddenly she feels like she is walking in circles, her perfect straight line tangled infinitely. Giving up her dream of becoming a successful musician she ends up as a mediocre music teacher. She keeps reaching out for fixed points where she could realign her string. But the important people in her life seem to disappear, leaving her in even tighter knots.
