Most predators hunt at night, having adapted in ways that make it easier for them to do so. Because of this, humans have felt afraid of the dark for centuries, dating all the way back to their ancient ancestors. It was common knowledge that some researchers believe it to be an evolutionary trait passed down through generations, a given to when said ancestors had to react quickly in order to survive the night. Other researchers believe it to be based on the brain distorting images in the dark, which makes us susceptible victims to prey on.

They make the fear understandable.

"How unfortunate..." The creatures tone is anything but sympathetic. "Hyperion Groove is not the place to get lost in. Don't you know the Godless come out at night?" Its voice is quipped, sardonic irony seeping from his lips.

With a single step forward, the distance is suddenly gone and the Godless creature is standing right before her. The shadows surrounding it seep back into the ground, disappearing beneath them. With the creature this close, for the first time, she can truly see him. Even in the dark, her eyes take in his appearance clearly.
