After the Second Wizarding War, students who missed the previous year were invited to return to Hogwarts to complete their studies.

The school still felt heavy with the aftermath of the war, haunted by the memories and lingering ghosts from the battle in the Great Hall.

Harry decided to come back to finish his seventh year. He didn't want to get a job at the Ministry just because he was Harry Potter. He wanted to take the NEWTs like everyone else.
