In the suburbs of Austin, Texas, Joel flees the chaos with his brother, Daniel, and daughter, Hope. He ends up in a Boston QZ and gets tangled up in a mess with fireflies. He takes a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl who might be humanity's last hope. They try to find fireflies. When they don't find them he travels across the world to find his brother who has been radio silent and apart of the fireflies. On there way they make a bond and makes it even harder to watch them leave.

Ellie found traveling with Joel to be both rewarding and simultaneously frustrating. It was like talking to a cold, emotionless brick wall sometimes. So imagine her excitement when they run into another group of travelers heading in the same direction, and they agree to travel with Ellie and Joel. The most exciting part? The other group has a girl their age. This is essentially a Ellie/Reader slow-burn fanfiction. It's also a fix-it fic in regards to the Last of Us Part 2 because I have personal issues with it.
