Adela Ramirez, a journalist from Manila, comes to the remote town of Kaduhaan to investigate a bizarre legend: no one in this town ever starves, no matter the season. But when she arrives, she realizes something is very, very wrong. The people are too kind, their eyes filled with something between devotion and fear. The local fiestas are extravagant, the food endless but no one talks about where it comes from. Then there's Carlos Lestino, the mayor's mysterious and strikingly handsome son, who seems determined to keep Maya away from the town's secrets. At first, Carlos is distant, almost cold. But he's always there, watching over her, warning her in whispers: "Adela, leave before it's too late." The more she digs into Kaduhaan's past, the closer they get until their chemistry becomes undeniable. When Carlos finally kisses her under the moonlight, he trembles against her lips, as if he's afraid of himself. Then, Adela stumbles upon something horrifying: the town's prosperity comes from an ancient pact. Every year, one person is sacrificed cooked, eaten so that the rest may live in abundance. And Carlos? He was supposed to be the next offering. But he survived by making a deal , instead of himself, he must offer someone new. And now, with time running out, Carlos must choose Will he give Adela up to save himself? Or will he break a centuries-old curse-for love?
