In the 21st century,  17-year-old Naia is the youngest mermaid around. She has cool grey hair and bright blue eyes. Naia and her grandma, also mermaids, live quietly in Korea. To avoid being captured and studied by scientists, they hide their tails and live among humans in disguise. 

One day, Naia decides to swim freely with her mermaid tail in the sea. unaware of lurking fishermen. As her tail becomes trapped in a net, Naia faces a desperate situation with no escape. Feeling trapped and helpless, The utters a forbidden word that unexpectedly transports her to a new world.
