Wisher

Kore Anvora's life, up until now, was hardly magical. Abhorred by her conservative Midwestern high school for her short hair and preference for men's sweaters, she didn't think life could get much worse until her mom was unexpectedly killed in a car accident. Now, debilitated by panic attacks on a daily basis, she's become aware of three undeniable facts:

1) That door in the alleyway near her house definitely leads to another world.

2) The pan-handler down the street, August Thurman, isn't from around here (or anywhere else).

3) Ever since she found that weird glass orb at the fair, she's been pulling a Carrie White whenever she has a panic attack.

Discovering a miraculous power she didn't know she possessed, Kore finds herself ensnared in the world of Wishers--people with powers beyond imagination. And the Wisher weapon she's unwittingly stumbled upon reflects the contents of its wielder's heart, meaning Kore's crippling anxiety, if left unchecked, could destroy existence itself. For the first time in her life, Kore doesn't feel powerless. Will she learn to find the source of her anxiety and learn to accept herself? Or will she choose to destroy a world that seems to hate her?
