Elyse has become a Reaper, the first and only of her kind. Unlike normal people, she doesn't age, and her heart barely even beats. Unsure of the power that has been bestowed upon her, she finds herself disconnected with the emotions of others and her own. She is labeled a witch by the people of Turmlair, and imprisoned for centuries. But after a new King arises to power, he declares the woman with pink eyes to be the one who will stop the bloodshed between their country and another. Elyse, who refused to accept what she has become, does everything in her power to reject what she is and to even entertain the possibility of becoming a pawn in the game between two countries. After finally seeing the world for the first time since being imprisoned, Elyse comes to the conclusion that the only way to be truly free is to take control of her own life. This is the story of the first reaper to ever exist, three hundred years before the first recorded power user came into existence.
