The loud alarm was ringing in my ears as the large door, which was supposed to protect us from whatever is up there, opened. I took one last look at the inhabitants of the Vault; I could barely make out the faces of the silhouettes, but it wasn't necessary, I knew what their expressions were like. As the door opened, I knew that my new life was finally beginning. // I'm not 100% sure where this fanfiction is going yet; originally, I wanted to write an OC x Hancock story. Let's see :)

"Please remain calm and in your seats. Your lifejackets are under your chairs, and your seats are buoyant so do not panic." The stewardess smiled prettily at everyone on the plane, hoping to calm down the panicking people. You woke up to people screaming. Wondering what had interrupted your dream, you looked around and saw people frantically searching for lifejackets. Starting to feel a little panicked, you looked out the window and saw the ocean getting rather close and approaching fast. You grabbed the lifejacket and buckled it on securely. Slate frantically ran up the stairs towards the observatory, looking around. "Mica?" Mica was also just as shaken. "Slate? What was that?" They asked. Their face was frightened as they stared at them. "I don't-" But they cut themselves off as they heard something... almost like whispering at first. But it was getting louder, and Slate realized it was the sound of whooshing air. But what was that bright, blue light in the sky? And why was it getting hotter all of a sudden? Slate suddenly gasped as a roar washed over them. They frantically looked up, seeing that the sky was too bright. Impossibly so. It lit up the entire night sky so much that they couldn't see the stars anymore. But then, it was gone. Slate stared in confusion and terror at the sky for a few seconds, as if they were waiting for the strange light to return, before they tilted their head back down and looked around frantically.
