What if there was a universe where Shannon left after Christopher's birth? After getting the news that his girlfriend does not want to be in their son's life, Eddie Diaz meets Evan Buckley in the hospital cafeteria of all places. They form a bond that neither of them can explain and become very involved in each other's lives. But what happens when Eddie has to ship out for his tour and Buck volunteers to take care of Chris? What happens when the letters Eddie has been sending to them stop coming and Buck instead gets a letter which leaves Eddie's condition unclear? This is a story of love and family and how being strong isn't always easy. I am terrible at summaries I'm sorry (Also posted on ao3)
