As a small boy, living in San Francisco, California, Michael has begun to realize, after his parents died in a car accident and having to live with his grandparents, that there is something strange about his body. He can do things that others can't do. No one knows about this or at least that is what he thinks. He didn't even tell his best friends Will and Jack.
He finds out about his past from an old book in his grandparents attic. It displays his family tree going back thousands of years ago. In this book are words, symbols and names he doesn't understand. His grandmother tells him everything once he does a magical spell and kills an assassin sent to kill him. For the first time he is able to understand everything about his life and why everything happens. He always thought his father was part of the Military, but until now he knows nothing about his parents. He wants to know his true life story and why he is different.
