The immense, cobalt-blue chandelier dominated the ballroom, casting a cold, dazzling light on the dance floor below. It was right beneath that brilliant fixture, during the partner-exchange segment of the dance, that I found myself facing him. He just rolled his eyes as I met his gaze before he spoke, the music nearly drowning out his low voice. "Ano nanamang trip mo?" I countered, my own voice tight with frustration. "Ikaw ba, ano nanamang problema mo?" His expression darkened, a familiar look of controlled irritation. "Bakit ba kase pumunta ka pa?" I held his stare, refusing to back down. "Kase gusto ko?" I got a glare from him before he spoke, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper, thin as air. "Hindi mo ba talaga ako titigilan babae ka" My patience snapped. The proximity was too much. "Ikaw ang ayaw akong tigilan pwede ba" "Tsk." The syllable was laced with pure contempt, and simultaneously, his hand he had placed on my waist for the dance tightened in an angry grip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ His heart still bears the scars of that fateful night When the one got crushed and other lost the fight Both are critically injured but fate had a role for them.
