Every year, Lyra's village gathers beneath the ancient statues of the Fates, offering prayers and sacrifices to keep the creeping darkness at bay. The Ruined Kingdom stands in the distance, a forbidden place where no one enters and no one leaves. A place ruled by a king who does not age, does not die, and does not care for the world beyond his walls. Lyra has never believed in fate, only in survival. With her mother's health failing, she is willing to do whatever it takes to save what little she has left. But when this year's ritual goes terribly wrong, Lyra is taken-ripped from the life she knows and thrust into the heart of a kingdom lost to time. There, she is told she has been chosen. That she, along with others, must vie for the favor of a king no one has seen in over a century. But something is wrong within the castle's walls. Whispers of the past haunt her steps, and the King-cold, untouchable, and shrouded in secrets-watches her too closely. As shadows stir and forgotten magic awakens, Lyra begins to question everything she's been told about the Ruined Kingdom. And, more importantly, about herself. Because the deeper she delves into the mystery of the King and the kingdom he rules behind the walls, the more she realizes: Some destinies are written in blood. The Coven's Source
It has been nine years since Lyra discovered Grigore; her Weaver and guardian of the living magic nestled in her body. Nine years since she doggedly followed him through hell and death, determined to not let him slip out of her grasp and shake free his denial. Nine years since he accepted her. Rumours are spreading that a Lord is hunting Sources; his lands plagued by famine and madness. As Lyra dreams of two women begging her to save them, she finds herself inexplicably pulled to the cursed lord and his haunted lands. Despite the dangers, Lyra and Grigore dive into the chaos, unaware that their abilities as a hunting pair and as lovers was going to be put to the test. Volume Two of the Dark Folktales. This is a horror, erotic romance, with monster-of-the-week vibes, such as Buffy, Supernatural, Witcher, Claymore, and Van Helsing. (I'm a massive fan of the monster hunting genre.) Back in 2014 I finished writing the original story, The Weaver's Source, and I am re-opening the world again as I feel I have a story worth telling. The Coven's Source is set nine years after the original ends, is a single story arc rather than many small ones. This will show the hunter I always envisioned Lyra to be but didn't have the opportunity to show. Author's note - Please be mindful of what you're saying when commenting. I'm happy with helpful criticism, spelling/grammar pointers, questions or simple chatter. However, a tirade of needless, unhelpful complaints and just outright rude commentary is not welcome. My stories are terrible first drafts, they're going to be riddled with issues, so just politely highlight if you feel there's a problem. I'll listen and likely take on board the criticism. And if you're not enjoying it, that's fine, just move on and thank you for giving it a shot.Complete
