Lyra thought she would only know the gods in death; left to live a quiet life, caring for the cemetery of Arental, cursed to loneliness by the bodies she guards. Then the Fae raid her village, dragging her into a land she only knows from legends. Turns out she was wrong, just not about the cursed part.
Rowan sees death too, once a wealthy Fae lord, now imprisoned in the mad kings dungeon, awaiting his execution. Until the mysterious human girl from his dreams unlocks his cell. Thrown together Rowan soon discovers the gods have quite a bit planned for them; and despite Lyra's reluctance, he's all in.
Together they must stop the oncoming war, a war that will destroy both their homes and release a eons old evil back into the world. Passion and tension wage war along a dangerous journey, bringing the two closer then either of them bargained for and leaving them wondering if teamwork was all the gods had in mind for them.

However, working in such a field doesn't completely keep her from interacting or coming close to the animals she fears so much, especially when she's sent on an expedition along with some explorers to an uninhabited island to research and discover new species of plants and animals as well as search for an elusive and highly venomous serpent that is said to inhabit the strange isle. It also doesn't help when their helicopter suddenly malfunctions and the group ends up crash-landing in the middle of a dense jungle with no way of contacting the outside world for help. and to make things worse for poor Lyra, something seems to be stalking her in this new and unfamiliar environment. It's bad enough she's trapped with no way home in such a dangerous place, but when she comes across signs of a monster lurking somewhere on this uncharted isle, she comes to find that the worst of her nightmares have only just begun. because the thing that's been stalking her from the shadows as fangs and scales just like the creatures she fears the most, with intentions of keeping her trapped with it on the isle.
