Fabian is second in command at the household, after finding Ash turned and abandoned, his sister already thinks he is hiding secrets from her. Torn between his commitment to his sister, the head of the council and the head of the household, and his feelings for the new vampire spending every waking moment fighting for her life, Fabian is reassessing his commitment to the Vampire society he helped to build.
With Vampires being turned against the councils rules, and other crimes being committed, Zaida and the council become aware of a rebellion group growing in numbers. With threats to the council bloodlines growing, Ash is fighting for a future which could be taken before she can claim it.
