Declan's life unravels as his father lies on his deathbed and his grandmother's nursing home faces a buyout. This small, enchanting home, with its unique garden, holds more secrets than he ever imagined. Strange occurrences plague the grounds: a mysterious girl appears and vanishes, dark roots spread ominously, and eerie playing cards show up everywhere, warning of danger. Determined to uncover the truth, Declan discovers the residents are exiled royals from another world, his grandmother their hidden queen. They guard a portal and shield their kingdom from a creeping darkness, held back only by the queen's magical ring. With the elderly guardians unable to fight, Declan must conquer his insecurities, venture into the unknown world, and retrieve the ring's twin.
