▶ Kiana: For the past handful of years, hiding behind anonymous words suited me just fine. I could twist them, expressing myself, and know that people found something of themselves when they were sung. But anonymity is no longer possible. As much as I want to, I can't keep my head buried in the sand and ignore everything around me. Ignore the past and its importance. I'm stepping out of the shadows, in part because I don't have a choice. The other part, though... Because I want to take the plunge and see what's on the other side. Most of all, find my heart again and get things right this time around. However, it's soon apparent that not everyone is in agreement with this new development. I guess I'll see just how many potholes I'll find during this journey. ▶ Duncan: Most people think I have everything I want. Most people also don't know the first thing about me, just what's out there, what I allow them to know. They don't know that fame and money means nothing without the family I've made. The family that's been incomplete for years. However... It doesn't mean I'm a happy camper when that changes, when the missing piece appears out of nowhere. First, because it forces me to face all the feelings, good and bad, that I've tried to push down. Second, because she's not quite the same... But that's okay. And third, because someone thinks they can mess with her, with us. In the end of the day, there's one thing that's as sure as the sun rising every morning: nothing and no one is stepping between me and Kiana this time. Not on my watch. 🏆300 × Adult × 11/17/20 🏆67 × Romantic Suspense × 11/30/2020 Book one in the Toxic Climax series. Dual POV, second-chance love story. 5k-word chapters on Fridays. --- 🌟 The Contract Marriage By [Ella da baby] > A job interview. A contract. A prison sentence. Or a marriage to a stranger. All Hailey Grey wanted was a normal job to escape her toxic life. What she got was Travis Hawks-billionaire CEO, heartless perfectionist, and the last man she ever imagined marrying. When she's falsely accused during her interview, Travis gives her two impossible choices: Prison... or marriage. Forced to marry him and work as his assistant, Hailey steps into a cold, powerful world that threatens to swallow her. Her cousin Ria, jealous and cruel, tries to ruin her from the shadows-but Hailey is no longer the girl who can be pushed around. Travis and Hailey are total opposites, locked in an awkward arrangement filled with silence, tension, and unexpected sparks. As Travis begins to fall for her, Hailey is faced with a war inside her heart. Because the only thing more dangerous than falling for your husband... is falling when you swore you never would.
