When little Bethie Phillips, 6, accidentally jumps through a mysterious portal that seems to lead to another dimension, her older brothers Brent, 12, and Bench, 10, have no choice but to follow her!  With the aid of a few magical items and nothing more than their wits, they brave the dangers of this strange, impossible world filled with mythical creatures and shadowy characters where nothing is as it seems.  

*This is a cute fantasy-adventure story I wrote for my kids two years ago when they were obsessed with Harry Potter.  I rediscovered it recently and will upload it chapter by chapter at least once a week.  It's something middle-graders would enjoy, but I think even young adults looking for a respite from all the darkness in the world would like it, too.All Rights Reserved

Before she can even recover from the shock, she's thrust into a war that she hadn't even known existed. Loyalties will be tested. She'll have to choose sides between all of the people she's come to care about. Will she stand with her family, her new friends, or the two boys who both hold a piece of her heart? One thing is for sure. She'll have to let go of her dream of 'normal.'

It's YA Fantasy that dips its wonky toe in tones found in books and spaces like Neil Gaiman's Coraline and the film Spirited Away, with a zesty dose of The Hitchhiker's Guide thrown in for good measure. And it is, I hope, at its base and in its bones, a good and meaningful adventure story. It is about saving the day, but it also about learning to accept ourselves for who we are, and finding our family as we go.
