Lily Potter, previously known as Lily Evans, was often told by her relatives that a curse, originally called the Zǔchuán Lìliàng curse (roughly translated into ancestral power curse), placed on their family and lineage was Chinese in origin and was only temporarily blocked and that it's either going to reawaken on it's own or that someone with magic from their lineage  can accidentally, in an act of desperation to protect one of their own, force it to reawaken...  Lily always hoped that she would never have to reawaken it herself...
After that Halloween night of 1981, both Lily and James Potter found themselves in a strange place that Lily instantly knew what it was... It took quite a bit of time for James to understand everything.

Due to her father being in Azkaban, she was given to the Mrs. Figg with Harry and was raised by her. She was unable to go to her uncle, Remus Lupin, because he was a werewolf. She likes being called Lilian and her nickname is Lily, a nickname she dislikes. Given to her by a 2 year old Harry Potter. Lilian was not there when Lily Potter and James Potter were killed but was found by Hagrid shortly after Harry Potter was found.
