Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Nico Di Angelo and Will Solace were an unlikely pair of friends. The deadly son of Hades, and the radiant son of Apollo. They tolerated each other. Nico was too afraid to let anyone in, so he pushed Will away. Will wanted to heal him, and help him in any way he could. Nico Di Angelo had been outed by Cupid himself that he was gay, (who wouldn't have a crush on Percy Jackson, he's Percy Jackson) and he embraced that he liked boys. Will realised he was like his dad in another way, they were both bisexual, and that was okay. But, when Will met Nico, something clicked. Did he like Nico? Jason had been shipping them from the day they'd met. Oh yeah, he'd thought, they'd be an adorable couple. Opposites. Extrovert and introvert. Dark and Light. The Sun And The Star. It happened one fall, when they fell in love.

Nico felt like Icarus. Fly too close to the sun, and your wings will melt. Fly too close to the sea, your wings will grow heavy. Nico had already flown too close to the sea. He had allowed his infatuation with Percy to rule his life, his decisions, for far to many years. His wings had grown heavy, and he'd drowned. Icarus had made a mistake. He strayed too far, entranced by the kindness of the light. The dark wouldn't be as welcoming, ushering you in with no hesitancy and crossed arms. That didn't work out so well for Icarus. So, Nico would allow this filter, this light, to cover him, shroud him in kindness, and possibility, and warmth. But he would not cross further. He would not succumb to the light only to fall forever into darkness. He would do what Icarus couldn't. Nico di Angelo would not fly too close to the sun. Cover art by viria!
