Starlight and Shadows
Sixteen-year-old Cassiopeia Monroe just wants a full night's sleep. But that's hard to do when every time she closes her eyes, she's running through a void filled with whispering shadows and cruel laughter. The dreams feel too real, and lately... they've been following her into daylight. Between the blackouts, the strange bursts of energy, and the stars that sometimes flicker under her skin, Cass is starting to think she's either going crazy-or something much worse. Then, during a school trip to the local museum, things start unraveling. One moment she's staring at ancient relics, and the next a teacher from a different school is transforming into a monster with fangs, claws, and eyes that seem to recognize her claiming her to be a danger and threat. As she leaves the museum, the man in the wheelchair and another with crutches watch her go-eyes filled with something between awe, fascination, and fear. Cass has no idea why.
