"Well I just find it interesting. You say you hate me but so far you've showed up to all of my games this season." She met the girls blue eyes as she spoke, her gaze slowly drifting lower on the other.

"Oh don't flatter yourself, I just happen to really enjoy basketball." She retaliated sharply, knowing damn well she couldn't even name a single position on the court.

"Oh do you really?" Rory leaned in closer as Aubrey's breath suddenly caught. "Just funny that I've never heard you mention a thing about the sport before."

"Well, maybe you think you know me better than you really do."

"What does that mean?" Rory's heart rate was suddenly quickening as she spoke.

"Oh wouldn't you love to know, Parker" Aubrey batted her lashes at the brunette as she forced hers eyes to the teacher after a moment.

"What the hell did you do!?" I heard a feminine voice behind me. I groaned and turned around to meet a very angry face. I have never seen a girl this pissed before and honestly speaking, I am a little bit afraid. "She knew what she was getting into. Everyone knows I am player and I never stick to one girl." I shrugged and turned around to walk away. I didn't even take one step when I felt a firm hand on my t-shirt. She took a fist full of my shirt and turned me around so I was facing her. She then held my collar. Damn, she is almost the same height as me and if I would have been any normal guy, I would be terrified of her. "You don't treat girls like trash, asshole. She has feelings, she is not some toy that you got bored from after playing for a while. Apologize to her." She said through gritted teeth pointing towards Leah who was crying her eyes out. I noticed the crowd that started forming around us. I shrugged her hand away from my t-shirt and glared at her. "I will not apologize to anyone." I said slowly through gritted teeth. She is starting to piss me off. No one clashes me and no one stands against me. Even though I am new here, everyone knows that. I saw her eyes go blank and before I could duck, her fist made contact with my face and I felt sharp pain coursing through my nose. I held my nose tight and felt warm liquid flowing to my lips. "The answer is 'A,'" I say, keeping my voice light and kind. Carter snorts from beside me. "No, it's 'C.'" Bingo. I was hoping he'd say that. "The question clearly asks you to round to the nearest tenth. If I'm not mistaken, which I don't believe I am, answer 'C' has two decimal places." I smirk as his mouth twitches into a frown. We're still standing. "Very well, Miss. Jones," Mr. Neilson says, projecting another question. "I can't stand you," Carter mumbles in my ear. I turn my head towards him, pressing my lips against his ear. "Then sit the fuck down, Conners," I whisper. "I'm winning." ... Fairridge Prep is for the best of the best. Sadie Jones, stubborn and clever, is set on being the best. Returning from winter break feeling, more so than ever, that she has stolen her sister's dream, Sadie is determined to spend the rest of Junior year proving that she deserves everything she's worked towards. Carter Conners, notorious flirt (only when it comes to Sadie), will do anything it takes to not spend the rest of his life working at his parents' diner. Whether it's running for the track team or debating, Carter is always competing, and competing to win. Sadie and Carter have been rivals since freshman year, constantly bickering and trying to best each other. But when the rivals are thrown into a week long debate competition that, along with getting the top spot on the Principal's List, will guarantee one of them the title of Valedictorian next year, they find themselves enjoying each other's company more than they would've ever expected. And it leaves them wondering: "Do we really hate each other?"

"He definitely wants to sleep with you," he taunts. "Excuse me?" I look at him weirdly, "What are you even talking about." "The way he touched your arm. That's what people do when they wanna fuck someone." He looks down at his paper and continues to sketch his patterns. I get an idea and scoot my chair closer to his. I lean forward and bring my lips up to his ear, very gently. "Well, that's what you do." He snaps his head towards me like he knows what I'm going to say next. "Do you wanna fuck me?" I whisper, making sure to look at him in awe. I hope it has an even better effect since our faces are closer. He opens his mouth to say something but hesitates. His eyes are everywhere but mine. When he finally catches my stare, he pushes my chair back to where it was before with his foot. "You are such a smart-ass. Would it hurt to swallow your ego for two seconds? Not everything's about you," he argues. "Maybe. I mean- I've swallowed worse," I shrug with a petty smile. *** Lavender Quinn has been at the top of her class since she started elementary school, until her senior year.
