A type of wire called magnesium cored wire has magnesium in the middle and a steel sheath around it. This design makes it possible to add magnesium to liquid metal in a controlled way during different metalworking processes. Usually, the wire is put into liquid metal. The magnesium core melts and mixes with the metal, which has certain benefits.

What <a href="https://www.ferrosiliconmagnesium.com/products.php">Magnesium Cored Wire</a> Is Used For:

1. Steel Desulfurization: - Magnesium is very good at lowering the sulfur level of steel. Steel can become weak and less durable when sulfur is added.
When magnesium-cored wire is put into liquid steel, it combines with sulfur to make magnesium sulfide (MgS), which is easy to get rid of.

2. Nodularization in Ductile Iron Production: - Adding magnesium to cast iron helps spheroidal graphite (nodules) form, which makes the iron stronger and tougher.
The magnesium in the cored wire supports the formation of nodular graphite instead of flaky graphite, leading to malleable (or nodular) iron.

3. **Inoculation of Iron:** - Inoculation involves adding small amounts of elements to iron to perfect the grain structure and improve mechanical qualities.
- **Process:** Magnesium cored wire can be used to inoculate iron, leading to smaller and more regular graphite structures, improving the strength and machinability of the iron.

4. Magnesium can be added to different metals to improve specific qualities, such as rust protection and strength.
in some metallurgy processes, magnesium cored wire is used to add magnesium into the mixture in a controlled way.

5. Deoxidation of Steel: Magnesium works as a deoxidizer, taking oxygen from liquid steel to avoid the formation of oxides that can weaken the steel.
- *Process* The magnesium in the cored wire combines with free oxygen in the liquid steel, making magnesium oxide (MgO), which can be removed from the steel.
