Once back in Washington, Felix crosses paths with the people he thought he'd outgrown: Rafe the spotted hyena, a wildlife ranger with unknown personal reasons to protect the forest; Zane the wolverin, a former bruiser-turned-logger who ditched his street life after a close friend bled to death in his arms; and Slade the Husky, a local radio broadcaster who returned to Forks due to his deaf mother's Alzheimer's.
Together, the sextet begins mapping the spread. But the deeper they probe the trunk borings, mycelium networks, and altered animal behavior, the more the woods seem to resist. And when strange phenomena take root amongst the townsfolk, Felix and the others are forced to confront their deepest fears...

But Aidan soon learns that this dangerous creature might not be as dangerous as he had thought, especially with how affectionate he is with him. Aidan learns that this beast may make him feel strange things he shouldn't be feeling. Sometimes hate can come in many forms and variants, sometimes through hate speech and sometimes through just a little practical joke. But in this case, this was not one of those examples. After 19 year old teenager Mason Harlow former existing member of the furry community and his friends part of the furry community as well survive an attack out of hate from a person directing hate towards the furry community during a furrycon and gets arrested. A year later coming to the next furrycon in his town Mason gets prepared for, however there is one problem, there is a axe wielding killer in a fursuit named Bones The Wolf that is murdering people that he only targets those that intend to spread hate and malice towards the furry community and fursuiters in general. Mason encounters this and discovers that maybe he and his friends aren't the target considering since much like this killer he's apart of the furry community and is making a targeted statement to those that spread hatred on the community itself. Because in the furry community it's always important to be careful on who you criticize because you never know who will take it seriously and if it does, then it may kill you.
