Kol lived an impoverished life for as long as she could remember. Her saving grace was an engagement to the son of a neighboring farmer barely richer than herself. So imagine her surprise when a retinue sent by the newly appointed King arrived on her doorstep announcing that she had been chosen to be the next Queen. But Kol was wary.
