Baku is known as the best treasure hunter in the New World, his bounty amounts 950.000.000 Beli. His nickname is "Buggy's secret weapon" since he's part of his crew, sadly tho for about 10 years, he's traveling on his own. An accident happened that he was not able to return to the ship. After the events on Dressrosa, he managed to get Bellamy the Hyena as his partner for treasure hunting. The two build an unstoppable team that soon was known under the name "the Laughing Hyena".

Although they see him as a monster, in reality he's actually a person who has goodness in his heart as he protects citizens from either corrupt marines or evil pirates, helps their village and is respected by those some who sees him as a hero. His journey begins when he mets a young pirate captain with stretchy powers by the name of Monkey D. Luffy.
