Life seems so happy for seventeen-year-old Wren. The most popular friends, perfect parents, and all the boy's attention. But things aren't always as they seem, she was nine when her best friend Jack just mysteriously disappeared. After that she could never truly feel, how some may say... 'complete'. She misses her best friend more and more every day; the heartache grows and becomes unbearable. But when everyone starts talking of a organ stealing and eating creature everyone calls Eyeless Jack, Wren feels somewhat drawn to the rumours. Yet as she learns more the memories of Jack are back stronger than ever, and there is NO escape from the past. Eyeless Jack is COMPLETELY real. A monster of what was once a human boy. Now he travels around the nearby cities, cutting out and then eating the organs of other humans. He's always lonely but wants no friendships after what he's done in his childhood. He also has good memories though; old friendships, no human organs in his stomach, that sort of thing... But he sees a beautiful young woman one day, she's almost... familiar. He wants to kill her. His curse is to be reborn without end, without rest, without memory. Only madness. Now Jack is on the run from forces he doesn't understand. It's a new world. The mundane replaced by ethereal artificial intelligence, spontaneous virtual realities, and homicidal bible salesmen. But the creator promises the demon's voice will disappear as soon as he finds the right girl, the right bond. After that, they just have to escape the clutches of those who hunt them, find the Isle of Song, and free the creator from her prison. Or maybe this time, in this life, Jack will figure out what true freedom is.
